Two charming red-bricked Edwardian cottages; beautifully restored and extended luxury accommodation .Original period features are retained including arched ceilings, quarry-tiled floors, cast-iron fireplaces in bedrooms and bathrooms, sash windows, original timberwork and salvaged materials are used in the new kitchens. Both are situated in a peaceful setting on a tillage farm with mares and foals and overlooking the new Heritage Golf Club. Portarlington is approximately one hour and a half from Dublin, one hour from Kilkenny and two and a half hours from Galway and Cork, so it's pretty central for touring. It has an excellent rail and coach service to the South and West of the country. The Slieve Bloom mountains, Kildangan Stud (owned by Sheikh Mohammed.) the National Stud, Japanese Gardens, horse racing at The Curragh, Naas and Kilbeggan are all within 20-40 mins drive. Mount Julliet and the K Club are approx. one hour away. Closer to hand, i.e. 5-15 mins., are Emo Court (James Gandon designed) and gardens, canal cruising, angling, woodland walks, golf at Garryhinch, Portarlington and a par three course plus training school at the Heritage Club above. Portarlington has chinese, italian, indian and european restaurants, swimming pool, plus Huguenot and Georgian architecture. The history of Tierhogar House since c.1640 plus the heritage and history of the town (e.g., settled by Huguenots in 1690s) and surrounding area is available on request. Killenard, a village 1 km away, has a pub featuring weekly traditional music nights, a shop and restaurant. Tierhogar is 5km and Portarlington is 7km from N7
